Folio Software Training

Performance Technologies, Inc. offers a variety of training courses for Folio 4.X software.  For the End User, Author Editor and/or the Advanced Infobase Development training courses, the fee is $900.00/day for one (1) to two (2) students and $1,200.00/day for three (3) to eight (8) students.  For any Custom Tutorial session, the fee is $125.00/hour.  Note:  A $600.00 class preparation fee may be assessed.

 

Folio End User Training

Who should attend: Individuals that have no prior Folio 4.X hands on experience.  This includes end-users, author editors and programmers.  It is imperative that even advanced level programmers be instructed on the Folio Views 4.X environment, navigation and advanced searching capabilities.
Purpose: This class is designed to acquaint individuals with the look, feel and functionality of the Folio Views 4.X interface, environment, search capabilities, navigation and personalization of electronic documents created for the Folio Views version 4.X software.
Skill Level: Individuals will possess a demonstrated understanding and general working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows and or NT 4.0 environments, depending on which version of Folio Views 4.X client is in place.
Duration: One-Half to One Day (Depending on Audience Skill Level)

 

Author/Editor Training 

Who should attend: Information specialists and personnel that will be involved in the gathering, creation, editing, organization and publication of electronic information in Folio Views 4.X Infobases. (Individuals must have completed the End-User training class or have strong knowledge of Folio Views use).
Purpose: This class is designed to educate individuals in the processes involved in the conversion, formatting and optimization of material in different electronic formats, legacy materials and materials not yet created, to be electronically published using the Folio Views 4.X platform.
Skill Level: Individuals will possess a demonstrated understanding and general working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows and or NT 4.0 environments, depending on which version of Folio Views 4.X client is in place.
Duration: One to Two Days (Depending on Audience Skill Level)

 

Advanced Infobase Development and Administration 

Who should attend: Information specialists, IS or IT staff and programmers assigned to manage and or customize Folio 4.X infobases on a LAN, WAN or Internet/Intranet. (Individuals must have completed the End-User training class or have a strong knowledge of Folio Views use and it is recommended that they have a working knowledge of infobase build procedures).
Purpose: This class is designed to educate individuals in the processes involved in managing Folio 4.X infobases from a security access and restriction point of view.  This class also covers the processes involved with extending Folio Views 4.Xx search capabilities, implementing record level security, and developing batch processing techniques with the use of the Folio Builder 4.X Workbench products.
Skill Level: Individuals will possess a demonstrated understanding and extensive working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows and or NT 4.0 environments.
Duration: One-Day minimum. Two Days with Advanced FSR and Advanced Folio 4.X Flat File Code and general mark-up language instruction.

 

Automation of Text Markup and Manipulation Level 1

Who should attend: Individuals responsible for the conversion of significant amounts of structured or semi-structured text.  This class is intended for infobase creators who wish to use their automation skills to interpret context and structure to enhance usability.
Purpose: This class is designed to introduce the student to the process of text manipulation.  Document markup codes and basic search and replace techniques will be covered.
Skill Level: Individuals will possess a demonstrated understanding and general working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows environment and be familiar with the DOS command line interface.  In addition, they should have some experience working with at least one computer programming language, for example Basic, C, or DOS command line batch commands.
Duration: One to Two Days (Depending on Audience Skill Level)

      

 

Training in Automation of Text Markup and Manipulation Level 2

Who should attend: Individuals responsible for the conversion of significant amounts of structured or semi-structured text.  This class is intended for infobase creators who wish to use their automation skills to interpret context and structure to enhance usability.
Purpose: This class is designed to familiarize the student with the process of text manipulation.  Exercises in complex search and replace techniques will be completed and programming examples of read-change-write tasks will be performed.
Skill Level: Individuals will possess a demonstrated understanding and general working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows environment and be familiar with the DOS command line interface.  In addition, they should have some experience working with at least one computer programming language, for example Basic, C, or DOS command line batch commands.  This class assumes complete familiarity with the concepts of the level 1 class including the Folio Search and Replace (FSR) tool.
Duration: One to Two Days (Depending on Audience Skill Level)
